Man in hospital after forklift punctures car

The Ministry of Labour is investigating an incident Friday morning in which a forklift punctured the side of a car at 66 Slater St. near Elgin Street, leaving one man injured.

The forklift driver, in his 50s, was taken to hospital with minor head injuries after driving into a white sedan at around 6 a.m., according to Constable Chuck Benoit of the Ottawa Police.

Casey Martel and Alexandre Plante were in the sedan on their way to construction work when the lift rammed through the passenger door, narrowly missing Plante, the CBC reports.

Constable Benoit says that since the incident took place on commercial property, only the Ministry of Labour is involved in the investigation at this time.  He did not rule out criminal charges.
