Environment Canada has released a freezing rain warning for Ottawa.
On Friday morning, there will be a risk of freezing drizzle and foggy patches due to a low pressure system approaching Eastern Ontario.
Warm winds will turn the freezing drizzle to rain by Friday afternoon, Environment Canada says.
More freezing rain is possible in the early hours of Saturday morning. Ottawa can expect 10 to 20 mm of rain by Saturday evening, Environment Canada says.
The largest recorded rainfall in January was 40 mm on Jan. 15, 1995. The average temperature for January normally hovers around -10 C.
