City council has given final approval to two condo developments in the Little Italy area.
Domicile Construction Inc. has received the go-ahead to develop an 18-storey condo on Rochester Street, while Claridge Homes will begin work on a 30-storey condo tower at 1040 Somerset St.
Despite opposition from local community members, the planning committee was swift to approve the proposals late last month.
Little Italy and Hintonburg are expected to benefit from social housing and recreation initiatives, as both developers have said they will put money towards programs in the communities.
