CEOs to offer advice

The Ottawa Chamber of Commerce and the Ottawa Business Journal will be hosting a new CEO speaker series focused on allowing guest speakers to share personal stories and provide advice for members of the Ottawa business community.

The chamber and the OBJ have been working together informally for a number of years now, and finally came together in January to create the newly formed Ottawa Business Events LLP, according to Susan Blain, vice-president of Ottawa Business Events.

Roger Greenberg, past CEO of Minto Group Inc., a well known real estate development, construction and management company in the Ottawa area, will be speaking at the inaugural event titled: Passing the Baton. The event will be held on April 3 at the Ottawa Westin Hotel.

“I am going to discuss my transition from CEO to executive chair and the hiring of our first non-family CEO — why we did it, when did the family decide to do so, what options did I face, how was it executed, and lessons to share,” Greenberg said.

“Mr. Greenberg has implemented very good business fundamentals, and that is what we are trying to bring to the local business community… to better understand and learn from that,” adds Ian Faris, president of the Ottawa Chamber of Commerce.

Greenberg will also host a question-and-answer session.
