City must speak out against sexual assault

Re: Fighting 'rape culture' starts in the locker room

Other Canadian cities are dealing with males assaulting  and raping women in large numbers and behaving criminally.

Toronto and Vancouver came out in media proactive and denouncing all this criminal behaviour.

These cities support women and demand men stop crime. Ottawa did not come out strongly. Women's groups did a lot of great assessing of unsafe areas. Ottawa city hall refused to meet with them eight months ago.

Jimmy Carter has written a new book about abuse of women as the biggest issue of the future. The rape and abuse of women is done with impunity.

By not coming out strongly against sexual assault, the city lets men to believe they can assault and rape with impunity. So the city has dropped the ball.

A few years ago women had to protest for rape services at Ottawa Hospital. The Ottawa police have been taken to task for not believing raped women and treating them as criminals.

The city has to change, believe rape victims, be proactive, compassionate and hear women.

By the city’s silence, it is giving men the belief that they can commit rapes, assault and harrassment of women with no consequences.
