Centretown has none of Ottawa’s 10 most accident-prone intersections

Downtown drivers can breathe a sigh of relief.

A new report shows that of the 10 Ottawa intersections that experienced the most accidents in 2013, not one is located in Centretown.

According to the 2009-2013 Ottawa Road Safety Report, the intersection that saw the most accidents last year was West Hunt Club and Woodroffe, with 45 reported collisions. Of the 10 intersections, six are along Hunt Club Road, with four on the Nepean side and two closer to South Keys.

Centretown also had few fatal collisions. The safety report shows that of Ottawa’s 21 fatal crashes in 2013, only one took place in Centretown, near Bank and Laurier.

This may not be a number to celebrate, however, as nearby neighbourhoods including the Glebe, Sandy Hill and Hintonburg experienced no fatal accidents during the same time period.
