Charges laid after downtown stabbing

Twenty-one-year-old Ibrahim Mugassabi is facing charges after the July 31 stabbing on Cartier Street.

Ottawa police have charged Mugassabi with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon.

The case began when police responded to a 911 call just after 1 a.m. Wednesday morning. They found a 28 year-old man suffering from multiple stab wounds in front of the Embassy Hotel and Suites on Cartier Street. He was rushed to the hospital soon after in critical condition and is still recovering from his injuries.
