Ottawa commemorates Barrhaven bus-train collision

The City of Ottawa is planning to lower the flag at city hall on Sept. 18 to commemorate the first anniversary of the Barrhaven bus-train collision that killed six people, according to an official statement.

OC Transpo buses are also going to pull over at the side of the road at 8:47 a.m., the approximate time which the bus collided with the VIA Rail train, said amalgamated transit union president Craig Watson.

Drivers will also wear shorts and the colour green to remember driver Dave Woodard who died in the crash.

Two victims were Carleton students and one was an alumna.

In order to give university members a chance to share remembrances, Carleton University will set up a memory book.

The memory book will be in the Tory Building where Carleton members can leave messages and share condolences.
