Salvation Army warns of door-to-door donation hoax

The Salvation Army has issued a warning to Ottawa residents about suspicious door-to-door solicitation for donations.

The organization does not engage in door-to door canvassing and has not authorized anyone to do so on its behalf, according to a press release today.

The warning comes after it received an email today indicating solicitation for donations occured in the Glebe neighbourhood, says the Salvation Army’s spokesperson Caroline Franks.

Residents who are approached for donations at their door by individuals claiming to represent the Salvation Army are asked to contact the Ottawa Police.
