VeloGo demonstrates new bike-sharing system

Centretown hosted the first of many demonstrations for the Ottawa-Gatineau region’s new bike-sharing network, VeloGo.

On Oct. 10, the green shiny bicycles were demonstrated on Somerset Street at the Queen Elizabeth Driveway. Demonstrations showing the new system will occur in five other locations from now until mid-November.

Bikes can be reserved using VeloGo’s mobile app, website, or the bike’s keypad. A 4-digit pin code is all that’s needed to unlock the bike.  The new system also allows users to lock their bikes at any rack in the region.

The full service is set to run in the spring of 2015 with over 50 hub locations throughout Ottawa and Gatineau.
