More than 30 charged after police drug sweep

The Ottawa Police completed a four-month investigation yesterday into drug trafficking in the Byward Market and Centretown area in which 33 people were arrested and charged, according to an official statement.

The investigation, known as Project Sweeper, seized over $9,000 in cash and around $50,000 worth of narcotics including marijuana, MDMA, and crack cocaine, the statement said.

“The Street Crime Unit also executed two search warrants in the 100 block of Stewart Street and the 500 block of Bank Street during the investigation,” said Ottawa Police inspector Paul Johnston.
