Charges laid after forcible entry of Bell Street residence

Ottawa Police have laid charges in connection with an incident this morning where a man impaled himself after breaking into a residence.

Said Ahmed Mohamed, a 28-year-old man from Ottawa, has been charged with forcible entry and mischief.

A man believed to be intoxicated forced his way into a residence on Bell Street North, near the corner of Bronson Avenue and Raymond Street, at around 6:25 a.m., according to a police media release.

He fell through a pane of glass and suffered minor injuries when the resident living in the unit defended himself against the intruder.

Mohamed was released from hospital this morning after being treated for non-life threatening injuries and is expected to appear at a hearing tomorrow.
