Ottawa appoints new fire chief

The Ottawa Fire Services named Gerry Pingitore as the new Ottawa fire chief.

Pingitore had been serving as the acting chief while the city looked to replace John deHooge who retired at the end of last month after five years in the job.

Pingitore has 35 years of experience with the department serving as rural sector chief and deputy chief.

“Very honored to be appointed as Ottawa Fire Services’ Fire Chief,” Pingitore wrote on his Twitter account.
