Mayor Jim Watson is back to work after snowmobiling accident

Mayor Jim Watson is back to work at city hall on Monday after breaking his pelvis in a snowmobile accident.

On Friday, the mayor’s chief of staff, Serge Arpin, wrote to councillors that Watson would start working half days starting today.

“I had actually never driven a snowmobile in my life, that’s pretty obvious from what happened,” Watson told CBC Ottawa Morning host, Robyn Bresnahan, on Monday.

The accident took place on Feb. 28 in the rural community of Osgood. Watson was learning to snowmobile and he told CBC that he confused the accelerator with the brake.

Watson also said that he broke his pelvis in three places and is expected to make full recovery within four to six weeks.
