Ottawa man arrested for Centretown break-ins

Ottawa Police arrested 55-year-old Richard Seguin in Centretown Tuesday afternoon and have now charged him with 54 counts of break and enters within the past two months.

Seguin was arrested on Cooper Street while committing a break in. According to Ottawa Police, many residents reported he would use their fire escapes and balconies as a way of getting access into the buildings.

He is being charged with 50 counts of break and enter and four counts of attempted break-in since Dec. 23, 2015. Police believe the break-ins typically occurred between 4 and 11 p.m. and that laptops, jewelry and cash were the target.

Seguin is scheduled to make an appearance in court Wednesday.
