Demonstration to affect downtown traffic

A political demonstration will affect traffic flowing through Ottawa’s downtown Wednesday afternoon.

Police are alerting of possible disruptions to traffic on Laurier Avenue, Elgin Street, and Wellington Street. Police said they’re not clear on the demonstration’s exact route.

The Front d’action populaire en réaménagement urbain (FRAPRU) demonstration in Ottawa will begin at 2:30 p.m. in front of Confederation Park, at Laurier Avenue and Elgin Street. It will end with speeches in front of the Prime Minister’s Office at around 3:30 p.m.

The group is protesting the federal government’s funding decrease for social housing projects.
