Lego maniacs, that is.

In order to boost business during non-peak hours, Harris, manager of the Sparks Street Mall Management Board, wants Sparks Street store owners to tap into the mall’s Victorian atmosphere by “enhancing the heritage feel” of their storefronts.

While Ottawa-Carleton’s financial well-being may be bolstered by the region’s proposed budget, critics fear it’s being achieved at the expense of the health of the community.
Of the $6.2 million in service cuts outlined in the proposed budget, $1.2 million would come out of health programs. Such a move would result in fewer dental care classes in schools to reduced hours for sexual health clinics, for example.

Bells may be ringing for students at McNabb Park Public School for at least one more year.
With a meeting to vote on closing the school scheduled for Feb. 22, the public school board’s chair said he will forward a motion to keep the school open until the year 2000.
