A garden lecture series hosted by Friends of the Farm and presented by master gardeners on 7 to 9 p.m., in building 72, Arboretum, Central Experimental Farm. Topics covered will include water gardening, ground covers, shade gardening and colours throughout the seasons. Maria Knapik and Friends presents its annual Benefit Concert for the International Day of the Child at 7:30 p.m. at Dominion-Chalmers United Church, 355 Cooper St. The concert will feature such world-class performers as Maria Knapik (soprano), Julie Nesrallah (mezzo-soprano), James O’Farrell (tenor), and Marc Boucher (baritone) in a program that includes Mozart’s Exultate Jubilate and Vesperae solemnes de confessore and Vivaldi’s Gloria. Conducting Montreal’s World Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir, the Ottawa Classical Choir, and Les Chanteurs de Sainte-Thérèse Choir will be Vasyl Vasylenko from Donetsk, Ukraine.
