This year's Earth Hour may have had the world shutting off its lights, but Centretown is doing a lot more than powering down to be eco-friendly in 2010, the year for environmental sustainability. 
Brier DodgeHigh school student Kat Hojczyk came with the Worm Factory to the Go Green Expo to teach visitors about worm composting. Hojczyk keeps compost bins and worms at her own house to make fertile soil for her family's garden.

For Centretown residents looking for a new way to draw, Sharon VanStarkenburg and Remco Volmer started the Ottawa branch of the Dr. Sketchy’s franchise last August. Since then they have held events at the Mercury Lounge the last Monday of every month . In Ottawa, past models include roller derby girls, circus performers and Steampunks. The theme for the March 29 class was Carnal Equinox, a playful, gold lamé clad take on the zodiac.
