The NCC closed sections along the Rideau Canal Recreational Pathway and the east sidewalk of Colonel By Drive, Tuesday, according to a news release.
The closures are needed for ongoing construction along the eastern corridor of the canal, and at the Ottawa Convention Centre.
The west sidewalk of Colonel By Drive will remain open.
The NCC said the Rideau Canal Recreation Pathway will be shut down from the Government Conference Centre to the Laurier Avenue Bridge. The Colonel by Drive sidewalk will be closed from Daly Avenue to the Laurier Avenue Bridge.
Both areas will reopen in early January.
The NCC is asking pedestrians and cyclists to seek alternate paths until then. They are also urging motorists to be cautious and expect occasional delays.
