Police speak with hit-and-run suspect

Police today spoke with a woman in connection with Wednesday morning’s fatal hit-and-run on Bronson Avenue and MacLaren Street in which 22-year-old Dan Miller was killed.

The suspect, Layla Aman, 24, was released from custody without charges following an interview with the police. She did not have a lawyer present at the time.

On Thursday, police seized a black Nissan Maxima they said they believe is the car that struck Miller. The police said they were led to this car as a result of tips from the public.

Miller was leaving a friend’s house on MacLaren Street around 3:20 a.m. when struck by a car, which left the scene of the accident. Miller died later in hospital

The victim’s brother, Rob Miller, made a public plea for the driver to come forward.

“The truth will set you free,” said Miller in a statement.
