Ottawa police seize guns, drugs and cash in traffic stop

A traffic stop led to a man being charged for firearms and drug related offenses early Saturday morning, the Ottawa police announced in a press release on Wednesday.

After initially finding a handgun, drugs, and cash in a vehicle near Bank Street and Walkley Road, the patrol officers had arrested the driver, Const. Chuck Benoit said. The vehicle was not under surveillance, but was just pulled over by the patrol officers, Benoit said.

Members of the Guns and Gangs unit found three shotguns, ammunition, and 200 grams of marijuana, eight grams of cocaine and 100 morphine tablets in the vehicle after police executed a search warrant.

Bestun Fazil, 26, was in court Wednesday morning to face these charges.
