Winners, the Mississauga-based discount retail chain, will revitalize Sparks Street Mall when it moves into its new location formerly occupied by a Zellers outlet.
The chain will move into 155 Queen St. and it will have an entrance on Sparks Street, according to Winners spokesperson, Sarah Smithers.
The space is just a block from Parliament Hill. Zellers owner Hudson Bay Co. abandoned the location in 2011, transferring most store leases to Target, the U.S. retail giant currently under creditor protection in Canada.
Target never showed an interest in the downtown spot and now the retailer is leaving the country after it sells its inventory.
