Watermain break causes road closures on Riverside

A watermain break is causing the temporary closure of a section of Riverside Drive, The City of Ottawa announced on Monday.

The problem with the water supply system is affecting all Riverside lanes from Industrial Avenue to Tremblay Road. Northbound Riverside Drive access to all 417 ramps is closed, according to a public service announcement released by the city.

“All 417 off ramps at Vanier Parkway and Riverside Drive are open, but with northbound access onto the Vanier Parkway or eastbound access to Tremblay Road only,” the announcement stated. “There is no southbound access to Riverside Drive and Industrial Road.  Commuters can access the VIA Rail train station on Tremblay Road.”

The city advises commuters to use detours and plan accordingly in order to avoid traffic congestion.

Detours:

Vanier Parkway southbound:  Access to the highway is maintained. Turn east on Tremblay Road to St. Laurent Boulevard, south on St. Laurent Boulevard to Industrial Avenue, and then west on Industrial Avenue to Riverside Drive.

Riverside Drive northbound: east on Industrial Avenue to St. Laurent Boulevard, then straight on Innes for highway access or north on St. Laurent Boulevard to Coventry Road, and then west on Coventry Road to the Vanier Parkway.
