Centretown principal wins national award

One of Ottawa’s own is being recognized nationally for their efforts working with Centretown youth.

Glebe Collegiate Institute principal, France Thibault, has won Canada’s 2016 Outstanding Principal Award.

The award recognizes public school principals from all across Canada, who demonstrate innovative spirit and make noteworthy accomplishments in their school’s education system.

“France fosters a culture of excellence among her staff and students. She has consistently demonstrated her dedication to staff, parents and students,” says Ottawa Carleton District School Board (OCDSB) director of education, Jennifer Adams.

Thibault has been the principal of Glebe Collegiate since 2011 and her nomination letters for the award applaud her work as an excellent leader who “motivates, inspires and generates trust among staff and students.”

Canada’s Outstanding Principal is both a national award and an Executive Leadership Training Program. The leadership program first launched in 2005, in partnership with the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management, as a means of strengthening publicly-funded school systems across the country.

The Canada’s Outstanding Principal Awards Gala will take place on Feb. 23 at the Westin Harbour Castle in Toronto.
