Police investigating alleged Centretown pepper spray incident

Two people have been sent to hospital as a result of an alleged pepper spray attack on an OC Transpo bus in Centretown on Wednesday.

Ottawa police received the 911 call at 12:39 p.m. today. Multiple ambulances and police cruisers arrived at the scene shortly afterwards, located at the intersection of Bank and Slater Street.  They are currently interviewing witnesses and searching for the suspect.

Paramedic spokesman, J.P. Trottier, said one of the two people who have been hospitalized as a result of the incident is a 28-year-old man. He says both people suffered upper airway irritation to the throat, eye and nose region. Two other people were assessed by paramedics, but were released.

Although alleged to be pepper spray, the substance used by the suspect is unknown at this time.
