Attempted carjacking on Raymond Street

Police are searching for three men in their late teens after an attempted carjacking took place early this morning on Raymond Street.

Police say the three suspects approached the victim, who is in his late 30s, when he pulled into his laneway at around 1:30 a.m. A scuffle ensued after he refused the suspects’ demand to give them his keys.

The victim managed to keep his keys and fight off the three men, who then fled the scene. The victim sustained minor injuries, while one suspect lost a front tooth, according to police.

Police are seeking the public’s assistance to identify the suspects, especially the man who lost a tooth, said Staff Sgt. Michael Haarbosch of the Ottawa Police Service robbery unit.

“It should be fairly obvious if he’s missing a front tooth, so we’re looking for the public’s help to identify that person,” Haarbosch said.

Police describe this suspect as a Caucasian male with a thin build, spotted acne complexion and a noticeable French accent. He was wearing a black toque, a baggy, dark jacket and baggy jeans at the time of the incident.

The second suspect is described as a Caucasian male with a thin build and a clean-shaven face. He wore a dark coloured Toronto Blue Jays baseball hat, a dark jacket and baggy jeans at the time of the incident.

The third suspect wore a dark puffy jacket with colours on the bottom and baggy jeans. He is described as a black male, possibly of Somali descent, with a thin build and a black moustache.

Police request anyone with information on this case or any other robbery to contact the Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5116 or Crime Stoppers at 613-233-8477 (TIPS).
