Ottawa Senators fire head coach

The Ottawa Senators have fired head coach Paul MacLean, the team’s official Twitter account announced Monday.

Associate coach Dave Cameron is expected to replace Maclean, reported the Ottawa Citizen.

MacLean was with the Senators for four seasons, according to its official website.

The news comes after the Senators beat the Canucks in overtime last night to snap a five-game losing streak.

The Senators have a record of 11-11-5 so far this season.

In 2013, Maclean won the Jack Adams Trophy for coach of the year after leading the Senators to a second-round playoff spot, while the team’s top players were coping with injuries.

The Senators’ general manager Bryan Murray will be holding a press conference this afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
